How fast your brakes wear largely depends on how and where you drive, making it one of the more inconsistent systems to maintain. Fortunately there are a few notable signs to alert you to a problem. Here are a few of the more common signs you need new brakes. If you’re experiencing any of these problems, stop by Teague Chevrolet and we’ll be happy to diagnose the problem!
- Pulling – If the car pulls to one side when you press the brake pedal, the brake lines might be wearing unevenly. There could also be something in the brake fluid that doesn’t belong there. Either way, schedule an appointment with our service department as soon as possible!
- Screeching – One of the most well-known signs you need new brakes comes in the form of a loud, ear-piercing screech. Created by metal hitting metal, the screech means that either you haven’t driven in a while or you need new brake pads. Since it signifies a threat to your safety and the safety of others, it’s important to have your vehicle serviced immediately.
- Vibrating – Vibrations in the brake pedal can be a sign of warped rotors or that you vehicle is improperly aligned. Either way, have one of our technicians check out your braking system. It’s better to be safe than sorry, after all!
